Forging Forward Blacksmithing Course 27/07/2024
**** SOLD OUT ****
Recommended for people who have attended our Introductory Course, spend a full day developing your blacksmithing skills further by making a much larger project. The course will have a seasonal theme, for example a sculptural or practical item for the garden. On this course we use substantially more material which is the only reason the cost is a little higher.
What’s included:
You will make a large hand-forged object with a seasonal theme, for example a garden item. The finished piece will fit into the boot of a car so that you can take it home.
Refresh and develop your knowledge of some or all of the six essential forging techniques:
Bending
Drawing Down (reducing a section of steel to a point)
Jumping Up (increasing a section of steel)
Punching (making a hole)
Cutting (using a hot-set or chisel)
Fire Welding (joining two pieces of metal in the forge)
Participants will use some or all of these techniques to create a piece of work to take home. In addition to this, you will learn about finishes for steel which will be kept outdoors.
You will need to bring:
Enthusiasm, a sense of humour, a willingness to learn and some lunch. We will provide the rest!
